Colorado 500 Scholarship | Letter from the Recipient

Dearest Colorado 500 Family,

Greetings to all! I hope this letter finds you all doing well, and enjoying your summer! My name is Lyndi Peterson. I was a graduate and Colorado 500 Scholarship recipient in the year 2000. With the scholarship money that I was awarded through the graciousness of the donors in the Colorado 500 Organization, I was able to attend the University of Northern Colorado and graduated with my BA in Elementary Education in 2004.

I have been working in the field of education for the past 15 years now. Throughout this time I have went on to earn an MA in Instruction and Curriculum with an emphasis in Reading from Grand Canyon University, I am a certified Dyslexia Practitioner, and most recently obtained my Principal Certification through Denver University. In my career, I have been a classroom teacher in grades 1-5, a Reading Specialist, and Instructional Coach for teachers in grades K-5.

Most recently, I am proud to say that I have accepted the position as Assistant Principal at Eagleview Elementary (K-5) in the Adams 12 Five Star School District in Thornton, CO. It has been a long journey that ultimately would never had been possible without the incredible gift that I was given by this organization.

As I take time to reflect on my journey, I am reminded of the significance of saying thank you to those who have helped me along the way. So THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for your generosity. Thank you for the years and years of continuing to support and help Basalt High School graduates on their next journey. I have touched thousands of students, parents, and families life throughout my career and I will continue to do so as I embark on my next journey, that would ultimately not have been possible without you all!

With Deepest Gratitude,

Lyndi Peterson

Assistant Principal

Eagleview Elementary School
