News Release – Colorado 500 Road Ride

Due to varying interests and our desire to bring our Road Ride and Dirt Ride families together, it’s been decided to merge both events into one August ride.

In the past, the Road Ride has followed a similar pattern as the Dirt Ride in regard to schedules and fundraising efforts. One of the main differences, in the last several years, is that we have seen more interest in adventure and dual sport bikes, rather than strictly road bikes. Younger generations and our rookies tend to sign up for the Dirt Ride over the Road Ride as well. In order to accommodate all interests and personalities, we decided on this combination.

This change may come as a surprise since the Road Ride has had thirty-one wonderful years of fun, success, and history, which has played a huge role in keeping the Colorado 500 strong. With this merge, we look forward to making new memories and impacting more individuals.

August is an ideal time for street riding in Colorado since there is less chance of snow, construction projects, and less chance to run into Ride the Rockies, or other bicycling events. August is one of the most beautiful times of year to enjoy the fall colors in the Rocky Mountains. As always, all off-road bikes must be street legal and pass our tech inspection. In the past, we have had road riders trailer dirt or adventure bikes so they could switch off, which might be of interest to anyone who prefers a little bit of both.

The format will remain the same, with registration on August 19th at The Dallenbach Ranch, and a one-night stay in Basalt. Riders will then spend one night in Crested Butte, two nights in Ouray, one night back in Crested Butte, and finally, the awards banquet at The Dallenbach Ranch August 24th, with lodging in Basalt. This AMA sanctioned event is five days and six nights, and the entry fee is $1500/per person. Every participant is required to complete a registration form at: www.colorado500.org. Click on “Register” and enter the code: Colorado500-2018. You will be directed to complete the Dirt Ride registration, securing your spot for 2018.

In conclusion, it is with great pleasure and gratitude that we invite you to join us for the 43rd Annual Charity Invitational Colorado 500, August 19-24, 2018. A ride for lovers of dirt, street and adventure bikes. Men, women, solo, two up, and all types of road or street bikes are welcome.

We are excited for this unique opportunity, as we remain dedicated to keeping the Colorado 500 legacy alive and strong as ever, for all of you.

From all of us at the Colorado 500.
